Quentin Tarantino is a very popular American film director, screenwriter, and actor. He achieved fame in the 1990s as an independent filmmaker. His films use nonlinear storylines and an aestheticization of violence. He rose to immense popularity as a film director with films like Reservoir Dogs (1992), Pulp Fiction (1994), Jackie Brown (1997), Kill Bill (2003, 2004), and Death Proof (2007). In 2007, Total Film named him the 12th greatest director of all time. His first foray into films was in 1992 with his own screenplay for Reservoir Dogs. His Pulp Fiction won the Palme d’Or (Golden Palm) at the 1994 Cannes film festival. In 2005 Tarantino won the Icon of the Decade award at the Sony Ericsson Empire Awards.
